Profile - Lou Caprioglio

Lou has over 30 years of technology management experience. For the past 9 years he has served as the Managing Consultant for Abilita Telecom Consultants office in the New York City area working out of his Chatham, NJ office. In this capacity he has worked with numerous clients to help them get a better understanding of their telecom expenses and develop a systematic approach for improved long term management.

In particular he has assisted a major municipality in evaluating telecom services for their City Hall including the police and fire departments. This project involved managing the RFP process for selecting and installing a new PBX and was extended to reconfiguring their telecom access services which resulted in cost savings of over 30%.

Lou also assisted a major non-profit agency with over 30 locations in developing a telecom support function. He was able to reduce costs over 10% by eliminating unnecessary circuits & features. He also established protocols for reporting problems and developed in-house service capabilities to further reduce costs and improve response time. He standardized equipment selection and recommended a technology upgrade path which eventually allowed the agency to transition to a hosted VoIP solution.

Prior to joining Abilita, Lou worked for several large pharmaceutical companies in a technology support function. During this time he played a significant role in the introduction of computer automation to all segments of the company’s field personnel. He managed the planning and roll-out of laptops with associated software for a pharmaceutical sales force of 2500. He also had the responsibility to provide network, voice and desktop support for 20 regional Business Unit sales offices.

He also In this position he managed a call center with a staff of 40 that provided technical support for customers. As part of a major upgrade he spearheaded the implementation of a new phone system, including an Avaya PBX with an ACD and CMS capability. He also replaced a manual tracking/filing system with an automated CRM system.
